Michah Seven: Summary

It’s been a week, and we are already at the end of another book. The final chapter of the book of Micah contains many verses that I could reflect on, but I want to focus specifically on the last verse of the book. “You shall give the truth of Jacob, the loving-kindness of Abraham, which You swore to our forefathers from days of yore (Micah 7:20).” What I like about this verse is that it links us, at this stage of Tanakh and of the journey of studying, back to the very beginning. The people of Israel have the special relationship that we as a collective have with God because of the individual relationships that these men, Abraham and Jacob (and Isaac in between) had with Him. It’s interesting to see the values that these forefathers are coupled with – truth and loving-kindness. I can’t imagine being summed up so easily. What would be the one word for me? Or for you?
