Shir Hashirim Two: Resolutions

“The sound of my beloved! Behold, he is coming, skipping over the mountains, jumping over the hills (Song of Songs 2:8).” Today is January 1, so I’m thinking about this verse in the context of the new year, and New Years resolutions. Today is usually a day when people try to be the best versions of themselves in order to set themselves up for success in the coming year. So I like the idea of literally running towards ones goals, leaping over the obstacles that may be in the way, and doing whatever is necessary in order to reach the ultimate destination. In the case of Song of Songs it’s illicit lovers looking to find one another, but that’s how I want to approach every meaningful dream in my life.
