Shir Hashirim Five: Friendship

“His palate is sweet, and he is altogether desirable; this is my beloved, and this is my friend, O daughters of Jerusalem (Song of Songs 5:16).” I’m seriously loving this book – how could I not when it’s literally all about love? It’s making me want to make sure that I take more time out of my life to set intentions and think about my priorities and beliefs when it comes to love. In this case, I love that this verse describes the lover as a friend also. That’s one of the most important parts of a healthy relationship – being able to be friends, to laugh and to connect as whole people, both within and outside of romance. We should always be able to see the people we’re in a relationship with as true companions in every sense.
