About Samantha

Samantha Vinokor HeadshotHello lovely readers!

My name is Samantha. I’m a native New Yorker living in Washington DC (by way of Jerusalem). After several years in Israel, I’ve returned to the States in order to pursue my love of Jewish education in an exciting role that gives me the opportunity to make a direct impact on my ideal learners. I’m passionate about connecting everyone, but particularly Jewish teens, with their heritage in ways that are personally meaningful to them. I believe that Judaism, Jewish texts, culture, and practices, can provide added value to the lives of anyone who chooses to embrace them. My goal is to help others find those points of connection, and to light those sparks of meaning.

Other fun stuff: I would spend every day at the beach if I could, love the Pittsburgh Steelers, have traveled to 4 continents and aim to hit my 5th one by the end of this year, and am a Friends trivia champion.

So why am I writing this blog?

I love to read. I love to learn. I love Judaism, and have recently developed a deep passion for Jewish texts. As an educator, I think there’s so much to learn from these timeless texts, and so many layers to unlock within them.

There’s an idea in Jewish mysticism that every person has their own letter in the Torah, their own word written just for them, that they will see in a way that no one else can. I believe that the Torah has something unique to offer each person who chooses to explore it, and hope that by going through this process, I’ll find my own “letter,” the inspiration that the Torah intended just for me.

If you’re interested in getting in touch with me, please feel free to reach out via the contact form below. I’m happy to chat about Torah, Jewish Education, Project 929, or whatever you’re interested in. If you’re interested in hevruta-ing with me for a certain chapter or book, please note that in your message. I’d love to study with you!
